The Syrian crisis and the relative collapse of the country’s central government have paved the way for the emergence of increasingly influential non-state actors. Focusing on two major groups, Tahrir al-Sham and the Syrian Democratic Forces, this study seeks to answer the question of how these non-state actors are shaping the geopolitics of post-Assad Syria and what are the implications of this situation for the regional political and security order? In response, it is hypothesized that Tahrir al-Sham and the Syrian Democratic Forces are redefining Syrian geopolitics by increasing their network centrality among other actors; in such a way that as the extent of these groups’ connections and relationships become broader and more diverse, their geopolitical influence will increase in the future. In this regard, the theoretical framework of the research is based on geopolitical network analysis, which examines the position and relationships of actors in a multilayered network of domestic, regional, and trans-regional relations. This article examines the subject using a descriptive-analytical research method; the results of the research can also provide an effective analytical tool for regional and international policymakers in understanding the developments in Syria and West Asia, in addition to enriching the scientific
