The wars and conflicts of the past few decades in the Middle East have created a large population of veterans, veterans, and families of martyrs throughout the region, forcing governments to design diverse support systems. In this article, three countries, Iran, Iraq, and Lebanon, are examined as prominent examples with a long history of war in the Middle East. Using a descriptive-analytical method, the authors have concluded that Iran, Iraq, and Lebanon have designed multidimensional support systems in the economic, medical, educational, employment, and socio-cultural fields based on their domestic laws, but in practice, all three countries face four common challenges: lack of financial resources, weak enforcement of laws, multiple governing institutions, and lack of an efficient performance evaluation system, which has reduced the efficiency of these systems. These challenges are also more or less visible in other Middle East countries. Coordinated structural, regulatory, and legal reforms in Iran, Iraq, and Lebanon, along with regional synergies and the use of human rights and social justice standards, could provide an efficient and generalizable model for improving veterans' support systems across the Middle East.
