Background and Objective: The political unrest following the 2020 presidential elections in Belarus represented an attempt for a soft coup (color revolution) in the country. This research aims to identify the causes of political unrest and analyze the strategies employed by the ruling political system to counter them.
Methodology: This applied research utilizes a qualitative content analysis method. Data were analyzed using MAXQDA software, and relevant themes and codes related to the subject were identified.
Findings: Opponents employed a range of peaceful to violent actions and utilized media tools, psychological operations, and public opinion manipulation to expand the scope of unrest. The political system of Belarus successfully maintained its stability through prevention, conflict control, psychological operations, and delegitimizing opponents.
Conclusion: Political conflicts in Belarus unfolded in three stages: early protests, non-peaceful actions, and violence. The ruling political system, through its strategies for dealing with unrest, was able to prevent instability. These strategies can serve as a model for managing political crises.
