Abstract
The national security of any country is a function of a set of internal developments and movements occurring in its security environment. After the formation of a federal government in the Kurdistan Region, the power and influence of the Kurds within Iraq increased. On the other hand, some trans-regional countries, including the Zionist regime and the United States, have a strategic eye on the situation of the Kurdistan Region, and have gained an unprecedented presence in the region and support its independence. The existence of terrorist Takfiri movements and other terrorist groups in Iraq could have an impact on the western regions of Iran if the activities of these groups expand. This article uses a descriptive-analytical method to examine the US and Israel's strategy of exploiting the ethnic and religious divisions in the Kurdish regions to undermine the national security of the Kurdistan Region. The results of the study showed that the policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran from the perspective of national security towards Kurdish groups in recent years have been largely influenced by regional and supra-regional variables in the field of strengthening Kurdish separatist groups with the aim of balancing forces and creating obstacles to Iran's regional influence.
