Abstract
Following the occupation of Iraq in 2003, the country faced a complex set of challenges, including direct and indirect interventions by foreign actors, the inefficiency of government institutions, and deep political and social rifts. This research aims to analyze the future trajectory of terrorism in Iraq and identify the factors influencing its persistence or weakening. The study employs a mixed, descriptive-analytical method, utilizing historical data, security reports, and analyses of academic and media sources to examine internal factors (political, economic, social, and institutional) and external factors (interference by neighboring countries and global powers). The findings indicate that the complex interaction of these factors creates multiple scenarios for the future of terrorism in Iraq, and without institutional structural reforms, the reduction of social gaps, and effective crisis management, the likelihood of the continued activity of terrorist groups is very high. Furthermore, the results show that momentary changes in group leaderships, regional developments, and the role of foreign actors can significantly alter the trajectory of terrorism.
