Comparing the US and Israeli strategies in exploiting Kurdish separatist groups and the instability of the national security of the J.A.R.

The national security of any country is a function of a set of internal developments and movements occurring in its security environment. After the formation of a federal government in the Kurdistan Region, the power and influence of the Kurds within Iraq increased. On the other hand, some trans-regional countries, including the Zionist regime and the United States, have a strategic eye on the situation of the Kurdistan Region, and have gained an unprecedented presence in the region and support its independence. The existence of terrorist Takfiri movements and other terrorist groups in Iraq could have an impact on the western regions of Iran if the activities of these groups expand. This article uses a descriptive-analytical method to examine the US and Israel's strategy of exploiting the ethnic and religious divisions in the Kurdish regions to undermine the national security of the Kurdistan Region. The results of the study showed that the policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran from the perspective of national security towards Kurdish groups in recent years have been largely influenced by regional and supra-regional variables in the field of strengthening Kurdish separatist groups with the aim of balancing forces and creating obstacles to Iran's regional influence.

A Sociological Study of Colonialism and Empire; A Comparative Study of Wallerstein's World System and Hardt and Negri's Empire Theories

The article examines the sociology of colonialism from the perspective of world system and empire theories. Colonialism, as a policy of exploitation of underdeveloped countries by imperial powers, has always played a decisive role in the formation of unequal global relations. By proposing the concept of the modern world system, Wallerstein emphasizes the international division of labor and the different status of countries, and considers structural inequality to be a permanent feature of global capitalism. In contrast, by presenting the concept of empire, Hardt and Negri believe that in the era of globalization, power is no longer concentrated solely in nation-states, but is distributed in a transnational network and non-localities. A comparative study of these two theories shows that both emphasize asymmetrical relations and interdependence of countries, but differ in the level of analysis and future outlook: Wallerstein considers the end of the capitalist system to be probable, while Hardt and Negri highlight the emergence of a new form of imperial power. The results of this research reveal the importance of paying attention to imperialism in the context of global relations and can serve as the basis for macro-policies, designing development strategies, and supporting justice-seeking movements at the international level.

Foreign policy has differed at various points in its history from influential actors in the international system. With Donald Trump's arrival at the White House, US foreign policy vis-à-vis different countries has changed dramatically, with differences in Obama's foreign policy. Trump's emphasis on economic variables, given the background of his economic activities, did not enable him to use interactive approaches to resolve tensions and disputes with some governments in the Middle East on the one hand and resolve conflicts between governments in the Middle East on the other. Power, security, and balance of power in the Middle East were considered the most central concepts in the international arena of his foreign policy vis-à-vis the Middle East during his presidency. Leaving Bridgewater is one of the most significant examples of the Trump administration's distance from the interactive and peaceful approaches in the Middle East. In the present paper, the components of economic hegemony, Islamic divergence under the pretext of terrorism, unilateralism, and increased deterrence in Trump's foreign policy toward the Middle East are examined in a descriptive-analytical approach based on Kenneth Waltz's realism approach.

Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) is an American think tank that has the most important role in shaping US republicans’ foreign policy. The current study focuses on the role of FDD in shaping US foreign policy against Iran. This study follows a descriptive-analytic method to content-analyze FDD’s the published reports on Iran. The present study also adopts a statistical approach to calculate the weight and share of Iran related reports that are published at this think tank. The results indicate that FDD’s policy against Iran, including the eight categories of Iran Global Threat Network, Iran Human Rights, Iran in Latin America, Iran Missiles, Iran Nuclear, Iran Politics and Economics, Iran Sanctions and Iran-backed Terrorism, considerably influenced Trump administration’s decision to withdraw the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Finally, the application of game theory and FDD's strategy analysis shows that this think tank's desired strategy against Iran is to trigger the snapback mechanism and withdraw from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), but the option that results in an equilibrium state between the US and Iran's relations is conducting negotiations and turning back to the JCPOA.
